Description

Currently, Balancer has multiple tools created by different individuals or teams and hosted on different URLs, which can be confusing for users and most of them don't know about the many useful tools we have in the ecosystem. We propose to rebuild the balancer.tools website and make it the hub for Balancer tools - for reference, we believe Pon has done great work at balancer.fi and want to build something similar.

Value-Added

Create internal growth/value. Balancer users will have a better understanding of the different tools available and their use cases. In addition to creating internal growth/value, increasing awareness of the tools available should ensure that their builders receive proper recognition for their work. This is a very important aspect for a protocol like Balancer, which aims to bring devs to build on it, as it can encourage the development of more tools that can benefit the ecosystem.

Milestones

  1. Design (1 week)
    1. Deliverable: Figma file with the proposed UI to be reviewed by Grants committee, should include projects developed by bleu, Xeonus, Zendragon, ZeKraken, and others.
  2. Front-end (3 weeks)
    1. Deliverable: Next.js app implementing the UI, CONTRIBUTING file instructing people how to add their projects to the app.

Contributing

We believe the flow for contributing to open-source projects is very well established. What we envision for people who want to add projects to Balancer Tools Hub is pretty much what Dune has done with this Projects page. In that case, Dune has a projects repository that people can fork, add folders (containing information about it, like logo, description, charts, etc) about their own projects, and finally open a PR for Dune's team review. By having a separate repository to manage the projects, bleu can give more granular permissions to other Balancer's ecosystem members to help manage/review the applications if needed - note we're totally up to taking ownership over this but believe it's important to have contributors outside bleu involved so we don't become we blocker if we're off.
